Cuando no estamos pintando  is an artist’s book conceived as an interconnected dialogue between four artists and friends, woven together with the voices of writers such as María Zambrano, Pseudo-Dionysius or Samuel Beckett. Through poetic thought, the painter’s craft and the figure of the guide, it links pictorial practice and the written word, treating both as studio work. Its central aim is to find a way of writing about artistic practice from within it: not explaining the work from outside, but grounding the artists’ own ways of working. The author’s own voice is sought indirectly, through the voices of others. The book also gathers a selection of works from the recent series Las piedras y las flores (2024-26)
